Kevin Lilliana is an Indonesian model and beauty queen renowned for being crowned Miss International 2017. She was born in Bandung, Indonesia, on January 5, 1996, to a Sundanese mother, Lina Yulianti, and a Chinese-Indonesian father, Eddie Foe Junaedy.
She is the eldest among two siblings, with a younger brother Audi Danendra. As a bit of trivia, Kevin’s name came from her parents’ anticipation and preference of having a boy child as the eldest. However, not being sure what gender their expected child would be, they added the name Lilliana just for insurance.
Also similar to her younger brother’s name, where Audi in Indonesia is often tagged to female children. According to sources, Kevin’s name was based on a character in Home Alone, while Lilliana’s is a combination of her grandmother’s and mother’s name.
As a young, sophisticated, empowered woman motivated to pursue a career carved on her own, Lilliana went to the Maranatha Christian University in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.
Kevin earned a bachelor’s Degree from the Faculty of Arts and Design, majoring in Interior Design in 2017.
Pre-Miss International Pageantry
Before she joined the Miss International Pageant in 2017, Kevin represented Puteri, Indonesia, in West Java at the provincial level at the Search for Miss Indonesia 2017.
She became the winner and represented her province in Puteri, Indonesia 2017. Kevin ended up holding the crown for Puteri Indonesia 2017, where she will have to represent her country in one of the most coveted crowns in the world of the pageant, the Search for Miss International 2017.
During the Finals Night of the Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2017, held at Java Convention Center, Kevin was also awarded “The Best Traditional Costume” and the first runner-up for “Miss Talent.” Garnering the title of Miss Puteri Indonesia, Lingkungan gave her the ticket to join the Miss International 2017 held in Tokyo, Japan.
Winning the Crown: Reigning as Miss International 2017
Miss International 2017 was held in Tokyo, Japan. Kevin Lilliana competed with other sophisticated, stunning, and intelligent women from different corners of the globe, representing their nation’s flag.
Kevin Lilliana put herself in the final round, besting other candidates, and faced the best among the best. Finalists were asked to share their advocacies, and she generously explained that the world comprised of varied and beautiful cultures needs more appreciation from each other.
Doing so will lead to doors of better understanding and a stronger bond that will unite every nation globally, converging them beyond diversity and differences.
Kevin’s call for unity sealed her fate of becoming Miss International 2017. She also won the “Best Dresser” as she displayed Indonesia’s National Costume, inspired by her country’s national emblems.
During her reign, Kevin traveled to different countries worldwide and performed charitable works and programs that benefitted marginalized sectors.
In addition, she sang her song for unity, echoing her desire for every community she reached across the continents, hoping that differences shall be set aside in favor of compassion and care for one another as one global family.
Ultimately Kevin ended her reign after more than 11 months as Miss International 2017, eventually passing the torch to her successor to the seat, Mariem Velazco of Venezuela, Miss International 2018.
Life After the Reign: Advocacy and Personal Life
Brighter and bigger opportunities await Kevin after her reign as Miss International ends. She was elected as Ambassador of the National Agency of Food and Drug Control of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019.
Professionally, Kevin worked as an Interior Designer and as a Television Presenter. But, just as her professional career skyrocketed, her personal life blossomed as she was engaged and eventually married Oskar Mahendra in 2020, a famous entertainment producer and singer in her country.
They held their wedding in a traditional Sundanese ceremony. Despite a considerable age gap, their relationship flourished, and both were blessed with a daughter named Seraphine Zaylena Mahendra.
Awards and Achievements in Life
As previously mentioned, Kevin Lilliana’s most highlighted accomplishment is winning Miss International 2017. This achievement made Indonesia one of the few countries to win the Big Four International Pageants, such as the Philippines.
She also won several awards for “Best Costume,” credited to her knowledge and skill in designing and the sophistication to carry herself in whatever she is wearing.
