Early life and Education
Nguyen Phuong Khanh was born and raised in Vietnam’s Ben Tre Province. Her mother, Nguyen Thi Phuong, was a high school teacher in the Thanh Ph District province of Ben Tre.
Later on, her parents decided to separate. One of her two brothers, Hy Nguyen, is a well-known makeup artist in Vietnam.
She did a Marketing course at Curtin Singapore, an outpost of Curtin University in Australia.
She intends to enroll in the same university to study for a Master’s in Business Administration program once she graduates. She speaks English, French, and Vietnamese perfectly.
Pageantry –Local Pageant in an Early Age
When Miss Earth 2010 was held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, Phuong Khanh, who was 15 years old, saw it for the first time, and it immediately became her desire to compete for her country.
Additionally, her brother, Hy, supported her studies overseas and assisted her in her quest to win the beauty queen title.
As a result, Phuong Khanh finished second runner-up at the Miss Sea Vietnam International pageant in April 2018, earning a cash reward worth about $9,000.
Miss Earth Pageant in 2018
Before Phuong Khanh joined miss earth in 2018, she participated in representing Miss Earth Vietnam in August 2018. The associated franchise holder held a casting competition in Vietnam to choose a lady representing Vietnam as miss earth in 2018 and ambassadors for different beauty pageants and modeling competitions.
One of the ambassessors for the competition is Angelia Ong, who won the 2015 Miss Earth.
Later, after receiving the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s permission, she was formally introduced as Miss Earth in 2018, representing Vietnam.
She competed on behalf of Vietnam in the Miss Earth 2018 pageant, held on November 3, 2018, Philippines, at the Mall of Asia Arena. After the competition, she was crowned by Miss Earth 2017 from the Philippines, Karen Ibasco.
Post Miss Earth
On November 11, 2018, Phuong Khanh made her formal return to Vietnam, one week after winning Miss Earth 2018.
Her loved ones, friends, and admirers gave her a warm greeting at tan Son Nhat Airport, and On November 12, 2018, she was introduced at the White Palace Conference area at the Ho Chi Minh City press convention.
On November 16, 2018, she paid a visit to her old school and gave aid to those in need in the Ben Tre Province, where she grew up.
On December 11, 2018, Karen, who won Miss Earth in 2017 and Miss Earth-Air 2016 Michelle from Colombia, attended a welcome and appreciation ceremony at Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate Phuong’s success as Miss Earth.
She is an environmental and media advocate and has launched various international projects.
Advocacy and Business
On March 22, 2019, Nguyen Phuong Khanh organized a Trash Challenge alongside Han Sara from South Korea and Uni5 from Vietnam, and they cleaned up the trash beneath the Saigon Bridge, which spans the Saigon River.
Phuong Khanh also attended the official opening of the Vietnam Olympic Run on March 24, 2019, a yearly sporting event hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Vietnam to promote sports campaigns and commemorate 73 years of achievement in the sports sector.
She also attended the Ho Chi Minh City TV and Film University’s “Elegant Student Vietnam” competition finals on March 28, 2019. Additionally, On April 10, 2019, Phuong Khanh started a program using the Southern Customs Office Operations in Vietnam and gave 20 scholarships valued at 1 million VND to students with financial difficulties.
They also funded a youth project that included planting trees and cleaning up the marine environment on Nhon Chau Island. From April 10, 2019, through December 31, 2021, Phuong Khanh represented the province of Ben Tre as the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s (DCST) Tourism Ambassador. She will engage with the media to promote tourism, notably the coconut sector.
Personal Life
Phuong Khan struggled with her weight as a teen, overcoming many obstacles in her personal and social life to emerge from what she now views as the lowest times of her life.
She owes her older brother praise for doing everything he could to boost her self-esteem and guide her toward leading a better lifestyle to develop her best physical self.
Special Awards and Nominations
At the Miss Earth 2018 pageant, Phuong Khan of Vietnam stunned everyone with her ingenuity as she defeated 86 delegates to win the international title and give her national honor.
The renowned crown was presented to her on the finale night on November 3, 2018, in the Philippines.
She also received sponsorship awards from Miss Puerto Princesa hotel, Miss Robin Builders, and Miss Ruj Beauty Products & Resort throughout the tournament, including silver for the swimsuit competition and gold for the regional costume and evening gown competition.
